Our initial contract, signed in 2024, made huge leaps in establishing rights and protections for graduate workers at UA.
In Fall 2026, our contract is opening for negotiation again. We have the opportunity to make even more improvements to our contract, including better pay and better healthcare.
To do this we need as many members and as much engagement as possible. Sign up to be a dues-paying member now and talk to your coworkers about joining AGWA!

We are a union of graduate workers at the University of Alaska (UAA, UAF, and UAS), including Research Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Fellows, and Student Assistants. We're unionized under United Auto Workers who represent over 100,000 academic workers.
In 2024, we won our first contract, securing better pay, better benefits, and better protections for graduate workers at UA.
